This text on the spine of the paperback edition of "white terror" made me very curious. So there is an author of a "takeover-style" controls so well that the fans of the cult writer in America to read his book as happy as that of the "original". Very interesting!
the book: A group
Young people in the village Perchtal, near Berchtesgaden, a gruesome mystery to unravel. Here are the fates of each individual not only connected to one another - they take the time. In these years occurring dark events that never leave the friends - - - and always plays the most important role before Christmas and Santa Claus!
criticism
My first point is probably the most important: It is not Stephen King! Although a well-known structures of classics stand out, such as "ES" is However, this story completely independently. Of course, the locations could be an indication that it is not a "copy" of an "original" is. Derry and Castle Rock are not the sleepy villages that form the stage here, but a small town in southern Germany.
The narrative structure is completely different. King said writes almost exclusively in the first-person experience and leaves the reader more intense the story. Although Thomas Finn tried to apply this narrative on its history, but often it seems to me more like a story of several characters, take a trip together. A "narrator" there is not so!
In promotion for the novel used to compare like with "ES". Although this comparison I can understand in some parts - but not quite! While it is also impressive as oppressive as in the book "IT", between the different years, "cracked", but in the case of "white terror", the author considers primarily in 1994. This narrative is the most intense and most complex part of the novel.
A parallel has also the beginning of the book, because just like in King Finn opens his novel with a grim prologue, which the main characters the story is not in the least illuminated, but offers a dark introduction to the story. This beginning is him really well and can also be an understandable comparison.

To put it short: I'm not shocked!
Although this novel certainly offers certain strengths, and in many passages of good runs, I was - especially the end - disillusioned and a little disappointed. This was not due to really good idea. It was on a some half-hearted in parts of the story. Where I've expected more detail or depth, was a jump or even a completely new section. I must really hate comparisons with other writers, but in view of this novel does not lack the comparison with the cult-author from the United States. Finally, it is usually the details that a king differs from other authors. The description and the density of the story is huge - but never distracting. In Finn's work, I will not find it in this context.
Finn, it does provide a good tension build up, but at the end he is "from the air." The finish is so tired of me doing very choppy and more than enough. It has as a reader the feeling that a quick history must be brought to the end - even if the story should be retold but still.
what the "trade" is concerned, I have noticed in the present version of small to medium spelling errors that the personal reading pleasure - affecting - particularly in the middle part of the novel.
Perhaps I should have written a positive review if I had not read as a self-confessed fan of this Stephen King novel. But the advertising, the Stephen King fans respond directly, a more positive assessment can not in my eyes!
As a final note I would add that Mr. King for his 1,200-page work, "ES" for four years (1981 to '84!) Needed until it was published. This too is an indication of the detail and the commitment of the author King. Unlike King has "white terror" with its almost 500 pages a bit "thin" and is unfortunately not deep enough.
